Our little band of poets hailing from Leimert Park in the City of Angels accetped an invitation to recite from the collection of Langston Hughes. We had so much fun we needed to do it again. Nikki Giovanni granted us permission and we were honored to pay homage to S. Pearl Sharpe, Conney D. Williams and our Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology tribute took on a lifeforce of its own.
What was to be a one-night event in a little theatre in the park, just got back from the SoHo Playhouse where we performed for sixteen nights and we had a ball during our Off-Broaway run.
Coming home first stop was back at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 15th Anniversary Filming and then we celebrated the last surviving member of the Watts Prophets, Father Amde Hamilton's 85th birthday and the 60th year Anniversay of the longest running African American writers workshop in American history...The Watts Writers Workshop.
Next stop...da Poetry Lounge's LA Get Down at Greenway Court Theatre in Los Angeles. I hope you get a chance to see us.
